Open Enrollment Class Registration - Duplan

What do research and documentation look like for poets? How, as poets, can we use research and documentation to not only improve as writers but also to be more conscientious artists and citizens? Drawing from artists and writers like Adrian Piper, Audre Lorde, Ronaldo Wilson, Charles Reznikoff, Layli Long Soldier and many others, we will each develop a toolkit of poetic research and archival methods. Most poems already do a certain amount of “internal research” as they inquire into the emotional worlds of their speakers. This workshop will focus on complicating what emotional research looks like, and we will try to open up other avenues—social, cultural, digital—for poetic inquiry.
