The 2004 Poetry in The Branches National Institute
This comprehensive weekend-long seminar prepares participants to bring this highly successful program model to their own libraries. The 2004 Institute will cover a wide range of nuts-and-bolts information about producing vibrant poetry programs, building enriched collections and engaging enthusiastic audiences through effective community outreach. Participants will gain experience listening to, discussing and even writing poetry. We guarantee that no one will leave uninspired!
On the weekend of October 22-24, 2004, librarians from across the country will gather in Poets House's acclaimed library for the second Poetry in The Branches National Institute.
Beginning with dinner on Friday evening and continuing through Sunday afternoon you will spend a weekend immersed in the rich world of poetry. Here at Poets House you will find resources for developing your library's poetry collection, explore our 45,000-volume collection, and hear poetry and connect personally with our guest poets. Learn how to reach out to and empower your patrons through poetry. Leave the weekend with a practical poetry plan for your library, and lots of nuts-and-bolts information to help make your plan a reality. At night, eat and drink with your colleagues, and experience the wealth of cultural events that New York City has to offer. You will go home refreshed and inspired!
