Passwords: Kathleen Norris on Hildegard of Bingen and Mechtild of Magdeburg
Hildegard's poems were written to be sung by the women of her 12th century German monastery. The poet Mechtild was an embattled Beguine of the 13th century. Featuring presentations of the work in the original Latin, in English translation, and in musical form, the evening will explore the poetry of spiritual quest.
