The Poetry Walk Across the Brooklyn Bridge
This beloved Poets House event is an annual benefit for Poets House, and all proceeds support its programs and services, most of which are free to the public. Celebrate the 23rd Annual Poetry Walk on Monday, June 11, 2018.
The Poetry Walk features readings of the poetry of Walt Whitman, Marianne Moore, Langston Hughes and other greats beneath John Augustus Roebling's famous arches. For two decades, guests of Poets House have crossed the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset, reveling in the words of these revered poets who have paid tribute to New York City in their work as read by contemporary poets of the day. The journey from Manhattan to Brooklyn closes with a reading of Walt Whitman’s “Crossing Brooklyn Ferry,” followed by a celebratory dinner and more poetry.
