Through close readings of contemporary poems, students will fill their notebooks with new work culminating in a ten-poem chapbook. The class will evaluate what makes poems successful and borrow those strategies to improve each participant's work. We will also devote time to publication strategies and how to most effectively send poems to magazines, journals and contests.

Poets House presents this legendary American poet reading from his body of work including his most recent book of poems Planisphere.

A score of leading poets, representing the breadth and diversity of contemporary poetry, kick off the 20th Annual Poets House Showcase, which gathers more than 2,000 poetry titles. Readings by Julian Talamantez Brolaski, Eduardo C.

This year’s Poets House Poetic City program celebrates the power of well-crafted words by bringing together two of the city’s finest poets with two songwriters known for their lyrical gifts.
