Through close readings of contemporary poems, students will fill their notebooks with new work culminating in a ten-poem chapbook. The class will evaluate what makes poems successful and borrow those strategies to improve each participant's work. We will also devote time to publication strategies and how to most effectively send poems to magazines, journals and contests.
Since its inception in 1992, the annual Poets House Showcase has blossomed both in terms of the number of texts it displays and the rich diversity of publishers it represents.
