2005 Poets House Showcase

The best book party of the year! Raise a glass to the poetic voices of America. Since 1990, the annual Poets House Showcase has collected, displayed and promoted virtually every book of poetry published in the United States. This year’s harvest promises to be the most bountiful yet,with well over 2,000 new titles from commercial, university and independent presses. From authoritative anthologies to handmade chapbooks, Poets House is the only place where they are all gathered under one roof.

A Tribute to Cid Corman

Cid Corman (1924-2004) was a poet, translator, and editor of the magazine origin, founded in 1951, which published many of the major American poets of the last 50 years, including Creeley,Niedecker, and Roethke. Author of 70 volumes of poetry, he lived in Kyoto, Japan from 1958 to his death last year.

A Tribute to Amy Bartlett: Her Life in Letters

Amy Bartlett (1949 – 2004) was a poet, editor and long-time Poets House board member. She was the author of a volume of poems, Afterwards, a 1984 National Poetry Series winner, and the poetry editor of Tin House magazine. Active in the community of poets who first organized Poets House, she joined the board in 1991.

Lit Fest: Propaganda! Collective Action: The Black Took Collective & Belladonna

Poetry in the Children's Room: Framing It All

The Children’s Museum of the Arts was founded in 1988 and is the only children’s art museum in the tri-state area. CMA has a collection of over 2,000 art works that date back to the 1930’s and represent over 50 countries.
