Mikhail Mazel and Gary Light presenting a book of poetry "Thaw Molecules"

Both authors were born in the country, which no longer exists, in a year that mirrors the 67th Street sign in Central Park. One of the authors grew up in Chicago and is currently based in Miami. The other author came to New York as an adult, lived in Manhattan for a while, and now sees it in perspective from his windows in Jersey City. Since the early 2000's they occasionally meet in Central Park, right around that 67th street intersection, and talk about literature, poetry in particular.

Attention in Its Highest Form Is the Same Thing as Prayer: Poetry as Receptivity and Effortless Effort with Farnoosh Fathi

What is attention? How do we create it? What does the language of your highest attention look like? What kinds of attention support, or obstruct, your process? In this one-day intensive, our class will function as an extended meditation; our work will be to create, combine and consider our attention, with the goal of seeing how this effort, rather than forced determination toward a particular outcome, can be the real work of writing.

One Day Workshop - Fathi

I am Most I When You are Most You: Poetry, Prayer and the Language of your Highest Attention

Ich bin du, wenn ich ich bin— I am I when You are You. How is Celan’s statement an encouragement to do the simultaneous work of poetry and prayer? When are you most you in your process, in your life? What kinds of attention support, or obstruct you? What does the language of your highest attention look like? How do you write the poem that is most yours?

Price: $95.00
