The year's end means book awards and "Best of" annual roundups. Visit Poets House to read the 2013 National Book Award winning Incarnadine and other works by Mary Szybist, as well as works from 2013 National Book Award Poetry Finalists and Longlist and Publisher Weekly's Best of 2013: Poetry.
Poets ranging from Ai and Victoria Chang to Stephen Burt and Frank O'Hara are part of the Academy of American Poets' Notable Books of 2013. Mary Szybist joins Averill Curdy, Rigoberto Gonzalez, Frank X. Walker and others on Slate.com's Best Poetry Books of 2013, while Robert Archambeau's The Poet Resigns: Poetry in a Difficult World, makes their Overlooked Books list. Poets Rafael Campo, Nikki Giovanni, David Lehman, Harryette Mullen and Los Angeles Poet Laureate Eloise Klein Healy make the LA Times Holiday Gift Book Guide. And a roster of poets including Rae Armantrout, Calvin Bedient, Amaranth Borsuk, and John Keene pick their 2013 favorites for the online monthly The Volta.
A selection of the Beyond Columbus Foundation's American Book Award Winners are also on display in the Margo Viscusi Reading Room and Reed Foundation Library, including When My Brother was an Aztec by Natalie Diaz and Joy Harjo's Crazy Brave, two poets who were part of Native Innovation: Indigenous American Poetry in the 21st Century here at Poets House this past March.
