Poetry Month at Poets House!
Poets House congratulates long-time friend Vijay Seshadri on winning the 2014 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry for 3 Sections (Graywolf Press).

In celebration of Poetry Month, we've created a sonnet of programs at Poets House, around New York City and beyond.
• On Tuesday, April 22nd we open A Painter and His Poets: The Art of George Schneeman. Curated by Bill Berkson and Ron Padgett, the exhibition is first major retrospective show of the artist's collaborative paintings, collages, prints, and books, with portraits of his poet friends. A Panel Discussion and Poetry Reading in conjunction with the exhibit will be held on Saturday, April 26th.

• Poem in Your Pocket Day is Thursday, April 24th, and all day Poets House will be distributing pocket-sized poems inspired by local landmarks, some written by budding poets from neighboring elementary schools, followed at 4:00pm by a Neighborhood Poetry Read-In with the Brooklyn & Queens Poet Laureates. If you would like to volunteer to hand out poems in Battery Park City and Tribeca on April 24th, please contact Suzanne Lunden, email@example.com. • Join us at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Mothers Day, Sunday, May 11th for Love Speaks: A Day of Art and Poetry from the Muslim World, exploring the many facets of love through performances, workshops, and artist demonstrations in the museum's Islamic Art galleries, followed by a reading and discussion with New York State Poet Marie Howe, poet and editor Kazim Ali, and Columbia University's Dr. Frances Pritchett.
Also in the news: Editor and National Book Critics Circle Vice-President Jane Ciabattari answers the question, Why is Rumi the best-selling poet in the US?, by speaking with Poets House Executive Director Lee Briccetti and others featured at our Rumi program at AWP 2014 in Seattle.
