Poetry in The Branches National Institute

The PITB National Institute is a weekend-long intensive training in the PITB model held at Poets House in New York City.

Poetry in The Branches Source Book

Our Poetry in The Branches Source Book is a step-by-step guide to the PITB model, supplemented by bibliographies to help you with collection development, tipsheets to help you integrate poetry into every aspect of your library, and lists to help you find the resources you need.

System-Wide Training Session

The system-wide training is a comprehensive introduction to the PITB model, incorporating nuts-and-bolts information, hands-on experience, context and plenty of time for your questions. Suitable for groups as small as 10 or as large as 150, Poets House can tailor the training to meet the goals of your system or region.

Basic Consultancy

The basic consultancy is intended to help you determine your system’s “poetry readiness,” and develop a plan for increasing access to and visibility for poetry in your library. It includes an evaluation of your site, system and community, and recommendations on collection development, display, publicity and events. The consultancy can take place at your location, ours, or over the phone.

Extended Consultancy

Building on the Basic Consultancy, Poets House can expand the scope of the partnership to meet the additional specific needs of the library or system.

Program Administration

Designed for systems where time is the scarce resource, Poets House can serve as your outsource for poetry programming. Poets House will consult with you and your system to shape a program that addresses your goals, then implement it from start to finish.

Full PITB Package

In the "soup-to-nuts" option, Poets House works closely with your system to implement a comprehensive suite of PITB services tailored to your needs. At this level, Poets House helps you create a complete poetry environment in your library, from hands-on assistance with collection development and display, to system-wide librarian training, to full program administration, to detailed evaluation of your site and system.
