One City, Many Poems
Seventh Annual Immigrant Heritage Week—April 15 - 21, 2010
One City, Many Poems is an initiative of Poets House and the Brooklyn Public Library, The New York Public Library and the Queens Library. Poetry discussions and related programs will take place in public library locations across the five boroughs during the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs designated celebration: Immigrant Heritage Week 2010, April 15-21.
These discussions and related programs honor a multiplicity of cultures from around the world, promote the sharing of immigrant experience and celebrate diversity. Trained discussion leaders will facilitate the gatherings. Latino, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Russian, African, Caribbean, Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi poetry are among the selections chosen for discussion. This initiative is made possible by generous funding from the Brooklyn Community Foundation. |
